Our special Startup Central Victoria Meetup guest on 18 September 2023 was Andrew Hamilton who discussed his latest venture, Pavilla.
Pavilla is a project aimed at providing short-stay accommodation solutions in regional areas using modular tourism pods. Andrew highlighted the difficulties in navigating planning and approval processes and emphasized the need for better quality regional accommodation to meet the needs of tourists looking for a rural and ecological off grid experience.
Andrew has come up with a model for regional accommodation designed for the purpose, which he suggested could help address the affordability issue and demand imbalance. He also discussed his strategies for establishing relationships with local councils and tourism boards to identify the best places for development.
In terms of property owners wanting to diversity their income this model could be a solution to cut down on the headache of individually going through the planning, building and booking platform processes.
