Finding the right business model

‘Starting out with an idea, I knew what I wanted to build—but I didn’t have all the answers on how to get there,’ says Daniel Mackrell from Echuca. While he already had business experience as a cafe owner, he believes that turning that concept into what is now My Coffee Cart really came down to getting the right support at the right time.

In 2022 Daniel participated in the Startup Central Victoria Accelerator program and within a few years established a successful award-winning regional business.

‘Working with Startup Central Victoria was a turning point for me. It gave me access to people who understood business, but more importantly, understood regional business. The mentoring and support helped me take a step back, look at what I was trying to create, and shape it into something that could actually grow and scale.

‘That process helped me move from just an idea to a business model that works—not just for me, but for others as well.’

Daniel says that My Coffee Cart is about creating opportunities for people, giving them a simple, flexible way to get into business, and building something that has a real impact in regional communities.

‘Looking back,’ says Daniel, ‘the idea was always there—but having the right people around me through Startup Central Victoria is what helped turn it into what it is today.’

Applications are now open for a new Startup Central Victoria program starting on May 24. FIND OUT MORE
