Iranian migrant, Gilava Pour, was working in corporate IT in Brisbane when she noticed that everyone was drawn to the smell of her food when she heated it up in the lunchroom. At the same time, she saw that the international aisles in the supermarkets had a noticeable gap in Mediterranean products and it wasn’t easy for people wanting to try a new cuisine to replicate it. These findings were the catalyst for her startup Exotic Bazaar that was relocated to regional Ballarat in late 2024 and relaunched at a national scale with her products now stocked in Coles Supermarkets as well as in gourmet stores and online.
